CHS Starts Career Exploration

Chardon High School is currently offering the ASVAB Career Exploration assessment to students. It includes an aptitude test, interest self-assessment and career exploration tools.

Interested students are asked to sign up through the guidance department. The free program empowers students to discover their strengths and interests then map out post-secondary plans that work.

For more information, go to asvabprogram.com or contact CHS school counselor Tim Hurlbut at timothy.hurlbut@chardonschools.org.

CMS Invention League Club

Chardon students in grades 6-8 are invited to participate in a free inventing and entrepreneurship program through the Invention League called the Invention Convention Program. The Invention Convention is aligned with State Learning Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, The National Invention Convention and Entrepreneurship Expo and The STEMIE Coalition.

Invention League will provide students with an Invention Convention Student Journal and other resources to help them unmask their superpowers and learn to seek out problems, find solutions, develop a prototype of the best solution and take their invention to the next level as a new entrepreneur.

Students will compete with their peers at a local level and top inventors advance to the Invention and Entrepreneur State Final competition hosted by Invention League. Inventors are eligible to win educational scholarships and other prizes.

Students will meet after school until 3:45 p.m. Students must have transportation home. They will need to purchase a tri-fold board and materials for their invention.

Meeting dates are Nov. 30, Dec. 14, Jan. 11 and 25, Feb. 8 and 22, March 8 and 22 and April 12.

State competition is July 29 at The Ohio State Fair.
