Holiday Giving Tree
Tucked within The West Woods Nature Center and Big Creek Park’s Meyer Center, Holiday Giving Trees will collect toys and items for teens this holiday season for the Geauga County Department of Job and Family Services’ Sponsor a Family program.
Donations will be accepted at the trees through Dec. 11 to help kids in need. The West Woods Nature Center is open daily, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at 9465 Kinsman Road in Russell Township. Big Creek Park’s Meyer Center is open weekdays, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at 9160 Robinson Road in Chardon Township.
Requested items include, but are not limited to toys for all ages (super hero-themed toys, cars, trucks, baby dolls, plush toys, coloring books, craft items like crayons or colored pencils, games or puzzles) and gift items for teens (make-up and nail polish kits, sport items like balls and mitts or flannel pajama sets for girls and boys).
Wood Slices & Wine Ornament Workshop
Dec. 1, 7-8:30 p.m.
Join instructor Angela Giaimo to create three unique ornaments from wood slices while enjoying wine, snacks and fun with friends 21 and older at The West Woods in Russell Township.
Fee of $18 covers materials and instruction. Please bring colored pencils. Registration is required.
Holiday Greens Workshops
Dec. 2, 9 a.m. to noon or 1-4 p.m.
Decorate for the holidays by creating a beautiful arrangement from fresh evergreens in the lodge at Swine Creek Reservation in Middlefield Township. Select from four options: a table arrangement with candle, an evergreen kissing ball, a square door wreath and a large floor-sized arrangement with colored branches. Project options can be viewed online.
Registration is required, with a materials and instruction fee of $18 collected upon registration and $9 collected at the door.
Greens For Giving
Dec. 2, 12-3 p.m.
Join Geauga Park District at The West Woods in Russell Township for the fourth annual make-and-give event to create more than 250 evergreen decorations for Geauga County Department on Aging’s home-delivered meals for seniors. All supplies will be provided.
Bob Rogish, of Rogish Farms, has graciously donated all greens for the event, and West Geauga’s Class Act a cappella group will return to perform for a half hour beginning about 1 p.m.
