Winter Solstice Celebration

Dec. 21, 7:30-9:30 p.m.

The West Woods

Celebrate the longest night of the year in an all-new format while exploring the roots of modern holiday celebrations indoors and out. Enjoy treats, hot beverages and music by the Pilgrim Brass Choir and make a solstice-themed craft.

Then, outdoors, stroll the self-guided Solstice Traditions Trail, a magical, candlelit route through the forest; warm up by a bonfire; and stop by the stage area to watch costumed interpreters perform interactive skits highlighting solstice traditions of past civilizations.

Nature Drawing for Kids

The West Woods

Improve one’s drawing skills. Tips will be shared for observing and drawing nature and participants will practice both sketching and cartooning. Supplies will be provided. Feel free to bring in a drawing of one’s own to show, too.

Youth ages 8 to 11 attend from 11 a.m. to noon. Ages 12 to 15 meet from 1-2 p.m. Registration is required. Only 12 seats are available for each session. One overflow session will be created if earlier sessions fill up at 2 p.m.

Grandparents In The Park: Wildlife Wonders

Dec. 28, 2-3:30 p.m.

The West Woods

Grandparents and grandchildren explore nature indoors the Discovery Room with an interactive habitat exhibit and fun naturalist-led activities. Bring a snack to share; beverages provided. Registration is required.
