Several staff members attended the Ohio PBIS Showcase Nov. 30 in Mansfield where Jordak Elementary School, Cardinal Intermediate School and Cardinal Middle School all received recognition for their positive behavior supports.
CHS Inducts New NHS Members
The newest members of the Cardinal High School National Honor Society were officially inducted into the organization during a special assembly on Dec. 8. New members include Jacob R., Jordyn G., Todd W., Hanna T., Ella R., Benjamin L., Ashley G., Adriana N., Emily S., Jordan W., Camille C., James A., Faith P., Morgan S., Kailyn F., Jonathan H., Jonathan H., Ashleigh D., Kathryn F. and Grace B. They join current members Megan M., Alex K., Maddy D., Emily K., Virginia T., Anna A., Hayden C., Joey B., Brendan W. and Nick S.
Upon being escorted into the gym by their parents, new inductees received flowers and their NHS pin. Current NHS officers and members then spoke about the four pillars of the club, which include scholarship, character, leadership and service. Following their swearing into NHS, all members were treated to refreshments.
District Receives PBIS Awards
Several staff members attended the Ohio PBIS Showcase Nov. 30 in Mansfield where Jordak Elementary School, Cardinal Intermediate School and Cardinal Middle School all received recognition for their positive behavior supports.
The Ohio PBIS Network and State Support Team 4 awarded CIS and CMS with bronze medals and JES with a silver medal for the successful implementation of positive behavior intervention and supports within their buildings. It is the second year in a row Cardinal schools have received state recognition.
Thank you to PBIS Coach Sherry Peters for laying the groundwork, and to the building coaches for implementing the positive behaviors. Cardinal is proud of all the students and thankful to the families for buying into the concept.
Fairmount Santrol Donates To Cardinal Students
Cardinal is grateful to Fairmount Santrol and the United Way Services of Geauga County for providing 200 personal care kits to the district. Fairmount says it is one of the largest projects it has and in addition to Cardinal, it also provides boxes to Chardon, Newbury and Berkshire.
It is part of the company’s community investment initiative to give back to the area. Each personal care box is recyclable and contains items like soap, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, a toothbrush and toothpaste. Fairmount says it hopes this will be a continuous donation the company can provide for the students.
