Diabetes Self Management Class
A six-week self-management class that focuses on diabetes will be held Wednesdays, Jan. 24 through Feb. 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive. During each two and one-hour class, seniors will get support, find practical ways to deal with pain, fatigue and sugar control, discover better nutrition and exercise choices, understand new treatment choices and learn better ways to communicate with doctors and family about one’s health.
The class is free to all registered Geauga County seniors, but preregistration is required by calling the senior center at 440-247-2131. Lunch and transit are available.
Matter Of Balance
Hospice of the Western Reserve, University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center and Geauga Department on Aging are offering Matter of Balance classes to Geauga seniors interested in improving balance, flexibility and strength and in preventing falls.
Classes will be held Mondays and Fridays, Feb. 2-26, at the Chardon Senior Center, 12555 Ravenwood Drive in Chardon. The four-week session meets twice a week from 12-2 p.m.
Seniors will learn to manage concerns about falls as well as set realistic goals for staying active, learn how to stay safe at home, complete exercises to increase strength and balance and learn how to identify and control the fear of falling.
