  • Chair Exercises: Monday through Friday, 9:15 a.m. Class is approximately 45 minutes and combines stretching, cardio and resistance bands.

Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP

April 3, 1 p.m.

The Bainbridge/Chagrin AARP Chapter 4527 will meet at the Bainbridge Town Hall, 17826 Chillicothe Road in Bainbridge Township.

The program will feature Dieter Huth, who was born in Germany in 1940 and will talk about growing up in Germany in a dictatorship during World War II and the aftermath through the eyes of a child.

Following a brief meeting, the group will discuss upcoming events, including the spaghetti lunch on May 1. Betty Scholz will be selling tickets at the back table or call Betty at 440-338-8321.

Food and staples will be collected for the Food for Friends food pantry as well as dog food, blankets, hot dogs and treats for the Geauga Dog Shelter. Monetary donations are also appreciated.

Refreshments will be served.

Chronic Disease Self Management

Geauga County Department on Aging is offering a free course to help senior with a chronic disease or long lasting health condition take charge of their health.

Sessions will meet for six consecutive Thursdays, beginning April 12, from 12:30-3 p.m., at the West Geauga Senior Center, 12650 West Geauga Plaza, Unit-4, Chester Township.

Seniors must be registered with the department on aging to sign up. Call 440-729-2782 to register.

Senior Trash Pick-Up Days

Senior citizens who live in one of the townships or villages listed below and have unwanted items that need to be picked up at their homes may sign up for trash pick-up days.

Register with the Geauga County Department on Aging (GDA) by the cut-off day or earlier. Once registered, seniors can be placed on the trash pick-up roster. To receive trash pickup assistance, one must be 60 years of age or older and live in the village, township or city holding the pickup.

Hambden Township: April 19 and 20. Registration cutoff is April 12.

Munson Township: April 23 and 24. Registration cutoff is April 16.

South Russell Village: April 25-27. Registration cutoff is April 18.

Bainbridge Township: April 30, May 1 and 2. Registration cutoff is April 23.

 

For specific allowable trash guidelines or to register for the pickup, call the Department on Aging weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 440- 279-2129 or 440-279-2130. When signing up for pickup, please have a list of items that need to be removed.
