Senior citizens who live in one of the townships or villages listed below and have unwanted items that need to be picked up at their homes may sign up for trash pick-up days.

- AARP Safe Driving Class: April 27, 10 a.m. Call for information.
- Blood Pressure Screenings: Mondays,10:30-11:30 a.m. Geauga Health Department provides free screenings.
- “The Civil War” Documentary Series: Wednesdays in May, 10:30 a.m. to noon. Each Wednesday will pick off from where the previous Wednesday left off.
Middlefield Senior Center, 15820 Ridgewood Drive, Middlefield, 440-632-0611.
- Chair Exercises: Monday through Friday, 9:15 a.m. Class is approximately 45 minutes and combines stretching, cardio and resistance bands.
- Seniors and Intimacy: May 2, 10:30-11:30 a.m. UH Geauga’s Dr. Byler discuss the ever growing concerns of seniors and intimacy including STDS, safety and more.
West Geauga Senior Center, 12650 West Geauga Plaza, Unit #4, Chester, 440-729-2782.
- Chair Yoga: Tuesdays, 2:30-3:30 p.m. and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to noon.
- Blood Pressure Screenings: May 3, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A registered nurse from UH Geauga will provide screenings.

- Chair Volleyball: Wednesdays, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Social Work Appointments: May 1, 9-11 a.m. Call to schedule an appointment.
- Tornado Safety: May 3, 12:30 p.m. Guest Speaker from Geauga County Department of Emergency Services will discuss how to be prepared for an emergency weather situation. Call to register.
Senior Trash Pick-Up Days
Senior citizens who live in one of the townships or villages listed below and have unwanted items that need to be picked up at their homes may sign up for trash pick-up days.
Register with the Geauga County Department on Aging (GDA) by the cut-off day or earlier. Once registered, seniors can be placed on the trash pick-up roster. To receive trash pickup assistance, one must be 60 years of age or older and live in the village, township or city holding the pickup.
Burton Village: May 7 and 8. Registration cutoff is May 1.
Montville Township: May 9 and 10, Registration cutoff is May 2.
Thompson Township: May 11. Registration cutoff is May 4.
Claridon Township: May 17. Registration cutoff is May 10.
Middlefield Village: May 18. Registration cutoff is May 11.
The GDA can no longer go into senior’s homes to pick up unwanted items. Refuse will be picked up from senior’s garages, out buildings and drives.Only 10 household items per home; small items can be consolidated in strong boxes.
For specific allowable trash guidelines or to register for the pickup, call the Department on Aging weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 440- 279-2129 or 440-279-2130. When signing up for pickup, please have a list of items that need to be removed.
