Hound Hiking

June 24, 6-7 p.m.

Participating dogs and their humans will enjoy a roughly two-mile hike along level terrain at Observatory Park, 10610 Clay St. in Montville Township. There will be ample water stops for all the dogs.

Registration required. Only onenon-aggressive, leashed (8 foot max) dog is permitted per handler, who must be able to control his or her dog at all times. Bring a water bowl, towels and scoop/bags for cleanup.

Firefly Frolic

June 29, 8:30-10:30 p.m.

Take a magical hike at Swine Creek Reservation in Middlefield Township that will reveal an array of lightning bug species identified by their colors, flash patterns and flight paths. Nets provided. Program begins indoors with brief natural history of these amazing insects.No registration is required.

Amazing Moths

June 30, 10 p.m. to midnight

Join naturalists Tami Gingrich and Linda Gilbert, with other moth experts, as they use mercury vapor and black light stations to attract a wide variety of beautiful moths and other fascinating insect species at wooded area of Affelder House located within The West Woods. Bring a flashlight and a camera.
