Famous Ohioans Visit JES

No school year is ever complete without a visit from Jordak Elementary School’s fourth-grade famous Ohioans. Every year, students choose one famous person who is from Ohio to do a project on. They research their person, create a poster and then dress up as that person to do a brief presentation on his or her life. This year’s famous guests included Annie Oakley, Jack Hanna and Erma Bombeck, among others.

Time Capsule Opened

Among the class of 2018 graduates were students who were part of the last kindergarten class to go to Huntsburg Elementary School. During their year there, students and staff put together a time capsule that contained notes from staff, letters from students about themselves, a menu, a yearbook and a Junie B. Jones book.

During the senior awards on May 17, the capsule was opened and those students who were still part of the district got to see the items once again and enjoyed looking through the memories from 13 years ago. Seniors who had a memory page in the capsule got to take their page home with them.

Capsules from the Cardinal High School classes of 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 were also opened this summer. Those contents, along with the remainder of the class of 2018 capsule, are on display at the board office.

Alumni Events Set

Two sporting events are set for Cardinal alumni. On July 21, the Cardinal alumni soccer game will be held at 9 a.m. at Cardinal High School. In addition, cross country will also host an alumni race on July 30 at 10 a.m.
