The Chardon Community Action Team (CCAT) will present Start Talking, a program to help parents start talking about alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, at the Geauga Family YMCA, 12460 Bass Lake Road, Chardon.
Matthew Petersen, OCPS, Lake Geauga Recovery Center, with an appearance by Missy Bell, OCPS, of Ravenwood Health Center, will facilitate the informative and interactive workshop.

Help For Mental Illness

Registration is open for the NAMI Geauga Miles for Mental Health & Wellness symposium and walk at Chardon High School on Aug. 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free wellness symposium runs from 9 a.m. to noon. Special guest speaker is comedian and motivational speaker Adam Grabowski from 12-1 p.m. The walk begins at 1 p.m.
NAMI Community Garden is open every Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Tuesdays from 8-10 a.m. Come for free produce, volunteer opportunities, support and networking. Call the office or email bolsen@namigeauga.org with any questions.
LGRC Ride for Recovery
Aug. 19
Bicyclists are invited to celebrate Lake-Geauga Recovery Center’s Ride for Recovery. The ride starts and ends at Bike Ohio, 8576 E. Washington St., Chagrin Falls.
Registration begins at 7 a.m. The long ride starts at 8:05 a.m. and the short ride starts at 9:05 a.m.
Ride is $30 per person. Children under 12 ride free. Riders must wear helmets.
