Turn Used Markers Into Energy
All around Chardon Middle School, students and teachers are collecting used markers that are ready to be discarded. The markers will be sent to a facility where they will be converted into clean fuel. The fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook meals and more. CMS teacher Jackie Brown is coordinating the effort. To donate markers, email her at jackie.brown@chardonschools.org.
Late-Start Wednesdays at CHS
The purpose of Late-Start is for teachers to meet in teams to discuss essential questions within their Professional Learning Communities (Teacher Based Teams). The time assigned for the teachers is best practice and has become a staple for teacher collaboration for the past two decades at CHS.
Buses run at the usual time on Wednesdays. Available staff, administrators, counselors and the school resource officer will monitor the cafeteria and gym, which is where students report and are then supervised during this time.
Test make-ups will run from 7:15-8:55 a.m. on every Wednesday. Classes begin at 9:02 a.m.
Parents can drop their children off at school from 6:55-9 a.m. on Wednesdays using the main entrance. Please be mindful that CMS parents are dropping off their children from 7:40-8 a.m. down the main entrance of the school.
After Prom Needs You
Chardon After Prom committee is composed of parents whose ultimate goal is to provide a fun, safe, drug and alcohol free event for high school juniors and seniors and their guests to go to after prom. It provides concessions at football, soccer and basketball games and the profits are used completely for the after prom event.
Any parent in the Chardon Local Schools can be a part of this committee and in any capacity that fits into their lives. Some ways to be involved include helping at the concessions, coming to meetings, which are the second Tuesday of every month, planning and preparing for after prom and working at the actual event.
