Parent Teacher Conferences

On Sept. 13, Kenston Middle School will host parent conferences for the first nine weeks while Kenston High School’s will occur on the following Thursday, Sept. 20.

The parent teacher conference is an opportunity for parents to learn about their child’s progress in school and for teachers to gain insight into their student’s home and community lives. Both schools utilize an “open” format with teachers at individual tables set up in the gym where parents can stop to see any or all of their child’s teachers.

Middle school conferences are from 3-7 p.m. High school conferences are scheduled from 4-8 p.m. During the school year, parents may utilize Infinite Campus to check their student’s weekly progress.

Rotary Senior

Connor Quinlan has been selected Kenston’s Chagrin Valley Rotary Club Student of the Month in September. He carries a 4.302 GPA and has amassed 17 academic awards over the past three years, awarding him an academic letter, academic medal, academic plaque, plaque of honor and plaque of excellence. He has made the honor roll every quarter of high school, received the President’s Award sophomore year and was recently named an AP Scholar. At graduation, he will receive an honors diploma and community service cord.

Although he takes most pride in his academics, he enjoys extracurriculars being part of the basketball and baseball teams and recently joining cross country. Outside of sports he is a member of National Honors Society, a founding member of Bomber Bash Committee and has been a member of student council since his freshman year, being elected co-treasurer as a junior and president as a senior. He was a Spanish Club member his sophomore year and CEC member freshman through junior year.

Connor has 200-plus service hours, representing his dedication to his community. Much of that time was spent at Kenston youth basketball camps and ESY summer camp for students with special needs. He was a Kenston Connect mentor and completed many service honors through National Honors Society.

Outside of School, Connor helps out at Holy Angels Church and has worked two years at Mackenzie Creamery in Hiram as a goat cheese producer. Other clubs include three years as a scoreboard operator for KCE and one summer at Signature of Solon Country Club as a cart boy.

Although he is still undecided on which college he will attend next fall, he plans to major in architecture and possibly minor in business at a four-year university.
