International Educators Visit Hershey

Hershey Montessori School recently welcomed a dozen Montessori educators from New Zealand, the Czech Republic, Argentina, the Netherlands and Australia to its Huntsburg Campus as part of a 25-day global study tour through the United States and Mexico.

Visitors referred to the school as “the Mecca of Adolescent Education,” reflecting its reputation as a global leader in Montessori practice for students ages 12–18. Educators observed adolescent classrooms, stayed through lunch and exchanged ideas with faculty, students and program founder Laurie Ewert Krocker about adolescent development and the future of Montessori education globally.

Among the visitors was Mirka (Miroslava) Vlčková, founder of Montessori Schools Andílek and the Montessori Institute Prague, an AMI training center in the Czech Republic, who shares Montessori practice with an international audience through her work and social media outreach.

Hershey Montessori has long attracted educators worldwide eager to study its farm-based adolescent programs and their emphasis on independence, responsibility and meaningful work.
