District Releases Quality Profile

Chardon Schools has joined 85 other school districts across Ohio to release a more comprehensive assessment of our overall performance to supplement the state’s district report card. Because the state report card focuses primarily on how well students perform on state mandated assessments, Chardon Schools believe it is important to inform the community of this additional information to provide a greater understanding of how the district is addressing and meeting community expectations.

Called a “Quality Profile,” the report includes additional accountability measures that define a high-quality education that are not captured by the state report card. The profile helps to evaluate the effectiveness of a school district beyond standardized testing and other statistical measures provided in the state report card. The Profile is based on six categories; academics, arts, student leadership and activities, fiscal stewardship, parent and community involvement, and student services. The profile can be viewed on the district’s homepage at chardonschools.org.

The Quality Profile is sponsored by the Alliance for High Quality Education, a statewide education consortium that works to improve educational opportunities for students and to represent member districts on matters of educational policy and funding.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL)

Chardon Schools is proud to announce that Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum Ed Klein has secured a $100,000 grant from ODE for Innovative Strategies for Differentiating Instruction to fund professional development and the implementation of the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Model. Chardon High School is the focus of the grant with an emphasis on how it can differentiate instruction to better meet the needs of all learners. Eight teachers and staff from the district’s State Support Team will be visiting a school in the Bartholomew Consolidated School District in Indiana that specializes in the implementation of UDL.
