Westwood Walk Raises $13,000

Westwood Elementary celebrated the 10th anniversary of the annual Westwood Walk by raising over $13,000. The funds are used to provide field trips, host assemblies, purchase educational materials, sponsor special events and provide funds for purchasing items such as incentives and awards through the PTO.

Students walked laps during recess in preparation for Westwood Walk Day. The students were joined by their families. The day included special events such as a visit from West Geauga’s Wolverine mascot, music, prize drawings and face painting.Patterson’s Fruit Farm donated apples for participants and visitors as a healthy treat.

The success of the walk will be celebrated in a special assembly when students and classes with the highest donations will receive prizes. Principal Deborah Nanney will be kissing a goat because the school met the fundraising goal for this year.
