Young At Park

Geauga Park District has fall programs and events geared directly for kids.

Registration is required. Programs are designed for the stated age group; older and younger siblings will not be considered participants. Dress for the weather.

Timbertots: Give a Hoot

Oct. 12, 10-11 a.m. and 1-2 p.m.

Oct. 13, 10-11 a.m.

Kids ages 3-5 with an adult will come ready to hoot and howl just like an owl in the lodge at Sunnybrook Preserve. Make and take a craft, hike a trail and assist with a special surprise seasonal activity. 

Astrotots: Super Sun

Nov. 2, 10-11 a.m. and 1-2 p.m.

Nov. 3, 1-2 p.m.

Kids ages 3-5 with an adult will experience the incredible super powers of the sun at Observatory Park. Gaze at the sun via the park solar scope and meet the sun’s universal siblings in the planetarium. Enjoy songs, craft and experiments.

Nature Explorers: Winter Survival

Nov. 3, 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Youth ages 6-7 and 8-11 will discover the multiple ways mammals, birds, insects, amphibians and other wildlife prepare to survive Geauga County winter. A drop-off program, it will be held outdoors in the boathouse at Headwaters Park.

Timbertots: Hibernation Celebration 

Nov. 9, 10-11 a.m. and 1-2 p.m.

Nov. 10, 1-2 p.m.

Kids ages 3-5 with an adult will discover fun first facts about hibernation at the Rookery, Great Blue Heron Lodge. Bring a teddy bear and small blanket and teach one’s fuzzy friend how to sleep through winter’s chill. Indoors and outdoors.

Homeschool Days: Magnification

Nov. 16, 2-3:30 p.m.

Youth ages 5-7 and 8-12 will learn how to use magnifying glasses, microscopes and binoculars to study wildlife, plus explore how these devices work. Adults may attend or drop off the child with a waiver. Held indoors and outdoors at the West Woods Nature Center.
