Helping Wildlife in Winter

With cold weather quickly approaching, join park district naturalist Karie Wheaton at The West Woods Nature Center in Russell Township to learn what one should and should not do to help wildlife friends this winter. The program will cover the strategies that different animals have to survive the winter cold.
These Are Holly Days
Nov. 10, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Browse a premier selection of nature-themed holiday decor and gifts for sale by nearly 40 regional artisans at Holly Days Artisan Boutique & Mistletoe Market at The West Woods Nature Center.
The Mistletoe Market will also have handmade gifts created by youth artisans ages 18 and under. Guests will be treated to live dulcimer and guitar music as they shop.

Nature Update
Nov. 10, 7-8 p.m.
Join Natural Resource Management at Big Creek Park’s Meyer Center in Chardon Township for an update on the hemlock woolly adelgid, a non-native insect now in Geauga County that can kill eastern hemlock trees in yards and woodlands.
The presentation will cover why the insect is a concern, what community members can do to help and what the park district is doing to manage it on park property.
