Animal Lab

First-graders had to identify various animal groups during a recent science lab. Students partnered up and visited eight different stations. Each station had something from one of the animal groups. Students had to study each animal and then write down which group they thought it belonged to: spider, insect, fish, amphibian, mammal, reptile or bird. Students had a great time investigating and did a good job identifying each animal. Special thanks goes to former teacher, Mrs. Duchscherer, for playing the role of mammal for that animal group.

School Meal Hero Award

Cardinal High School cafeteria cook Lori Dines has been recognized by Conagra Foodservice as a School Meal Hero. Dines was nominated by Janis Benton, food service director, for her hard work and dedication and for inspiring others with her love of students. Dines has been employed by the Cardinal Local School District for 12 years and in addition to her cafeteria work, she also serves as a building custodian in the evenings.

Finance Committee

The Cardinal Board of Education is looking for two or three community members and business owners to join the district’s Finance Advisory Committee. The committee meets up to six times throughout the year to review and discuss the various financial aspects of the district, such as monthly and yearly financial reports, the five-year forecast, the permanent appropriations and levy issues. The goal is to learn and understand the issues that are impacting the Cardinal Local School District and help to educate the community on those issues.

Anyone interested in joining should send a letter of interest by Dec. 21 to Merry Lou Knuckles, Treasurer at PO Box 188, Middlefield, OH 44062.
