Celebrating the Season

Enjoy spending time with family and friends over break. Happy New Year to everyone.

Christmas Around the World

Students in Mrs. Looman’s class celebrated the season by learning about holiday traditions around the world. They traveled to 15 countries, learning about how different cultures celebrate the season. They participated in the traditional Posadas walk where they looked for a bed for baby Jesus and made dreidels in STEM class when learning about Hanukkah traditions. The unit incorporated geography, culture and heritage lessons. Student even packed their suitcases and had passports.

Sounds of the Season

Last week, NDES’ talented musicians directed by Mrs. Taylor Stampfer shared beautiful music at the Christmas band concert. In addition, the third-grade students performed festive songs on their recorders. Preschool and kindergarten performed their Christmas concert on Dec. 20.

Advent at NDES

Students at NDES have been preparing for Christmas during this Advent season in varied ways. The focus has been on preparing our hearts to receive the gift of Jesus at Christmas through reflection on scripture and the traditions of Advent.
