Senior Signs With Tri-C
Cardinal High School senior Faith Peters signed her National Letter of Intent to play softball at Cuyahoga Community College next year. Alongside her family and coaches, Peters was all smiles as she placed her signature on the paper around 11:15 a.m. on Jan. 8. Peters says Tri-C is a good fit for her at this point and looks forward to seeing how she can contribute to the team that was named 2018 OCCAC champions.
While at Cardinal, Peters has been a key member of both the volleyball and softball teams serving as captain for both. She will be a four-year letter winner in softball following the 2019 season. In 2018 she was named to first team All-CVC as catcher and currently holds the school record for batting average in a season with a 714 average. In addition to athletics, Peters is also involved in the marching band and choir, has held leading roles in fall plays and spring musicals, was selected as both the prom and Homecoming Queen in 2018, and participates in several school clubs.
Merry Measuring
A “merry measuring” experiment helped get third-graders ready for winter break. Back in December, students in Ms. Tropf’s classes practiced using scientific equipment to find weight, temperature and length. Students visited about a dozen different stations in the lab and used scales, thermometers, rulers and weights to measure various holiday items like snowmen and ribbon. Students were using both the U.S. customary and the metric systems for their calculations.
STEM Showcase
Cardinal Middle School is inviting all business and community members to attend its Future City showcase to be held on Jan. 28 from 5-6:30 p.m. in the CMS cafeteria. Students will present information on their models and how they would benefit cities in the future.
The eighth-grade Future City team will also be presenting at the event; they recently finished third overall in the state competition. The students have come up with some really creative ways to build better futures.
