Celebrating Catholic Schools Week
Students enjoyed time with their Friendship Partners playing Bingo as part of Catholic Schools Week. After a blustery midweek break, Student Appreciation Day saw students playing games in the auditorium and in the new activity space on the third floor designated for students in grades six to eight.
Science Olympiad Tournament
For over 30 years, Science Olympiad has been North America’s most prestigious science and technology team competition. Last year, over 300 teams made up of more than 4,500 Ohio students participated in the fun and learning that are inherent in this competition. A strong emphasis is placed on active, hands-on participation, social development, leadership, and problem-solving skills, to motivate and energize students to excel in and out of the classroom. Students demonstrate their skills and knowledge by participating in competitions that are similar to academic track meets.
Notre Dame’s Science Olympiad team consists of 25 students who met each Wednesday beginning in October to prepare for the regional competition. Competition events cover a broad spectrum ranging from anatomy and physiology to circuit lab and poisons and potions. The competition also includes several building events like Boomilever and Battery Buggy.
NDES students participated in the regional Science Olympiad competition on Feb. 2 at Solon Middle School. This was the 31st year for the competition in Solon. Fifty-three teams from several states including Ohio, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin participated.
