District Receives Clean Audit
The district’s finance department once again received the Ohio Auditor of State Award for a clean audit. Treasurer Merry Lou Knuckles, along with payroll/benefits coordinator Rebecca Fisher and accounts payable/assets clerk Terri Fisher received the award at the Cardinal Board of Education meeting Feb. 13.
Auditor of State Keith Faber says, “The Ohio Auditor of State Award is presented for excellence in financial reporting in accordance with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and compliance with applicable laws for the fiscal year ended 2018. The citizens you represent are well-served by your effective and accountable financial practices.”
The district has received clean audits from the state for more than 22 years since the GAAP reporting was required.
Opinion Sparks News Story
One of Jordak Elementary School’s fourth-graders had such a good idea that WVIZ/PBS ideastream Newsdepth program shared it and used it to segue into a story on technology helping the elderly. Fourth-graders watch the program in Mrs. Charlotte Torre’s social studies class every week.
Newsdepth recently asked the question, “What would you like the new Ohio Governor to work on while he’s in office.” Huskie Pup Xzavier A. responded that he would like to see the governor focus on using robots to help the elderly saying, “The governor should first focus on helping the elderly with robots. The elderly always need help. You just throw them into senior centers and expect them to be just dandy. But robots can help you 24/7 and all you need is a change of batteries. And as long as you have them not turn on you, they’re perfect.”
The producers at Newsdepth liked his thoughts so much they used them to introduce a story on how technology and robots are helping the elderly stay healthy.
