CVC Robotics Symposium

A Cardinal Middle School student is part of a group that successfully completed all challenges at the first ever CVC Robotics Symposium. On Feb. 12, a group of five CMS students traveled to Beachwood Middle School for the event. The goal was to allow groups of students from different CVC schools to collaborate and problem solve together using science, technology, engineering and math to complete three different challenges using robots. It was not a competition and there was no “champion.”

Among the challenges groups had to complete were coding an EV3 bot’s color sensor to follow a curved black line, coding a Sphero Spk+ to complete a maze without touching the PVC pipe and creating a We-Do robot and coding it to be either the fastest or the slowest bot in a 10 second race.

Cardinal students who participated in the event were Caden G., Dakota M., Liliana M., Jaleya R. and Sarah B. Caden G.’s team was the only one to successfully complete all three challenges.

The students have been actives participants all year in the CMS Robotics Club, where they meet after school to work on coding challenges with the robots used in the symposium.
