PHab Lab coming to CMS

Cardinal has engaged in a contract with Palmer Hamilton for the design and implementation of a state of the art fabrication lab. The Palmer Hamilton PHabLAB will transform the current middle school library into an elite 21st century learning space that will include a variety of new equipment, tools, materials and furniture. This includes 3D printers, a laser cutter, CNC milling machine, Arduino microcontollers and a Google JamBoard.

The new lab will support Cardinal’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) initiative while helping to challenge students to engage in the design process through project based learning. All students in the middle school will have opportunities to use the lab and the district hopes to be able to open it up to students in Jordak Elementary School and Cardinal High School as well. The goal is to have the lab ready by the start of the 2019-20 school year.

Senior Signs With West Liberty

Senior Jacob Gotham recently signed his National Letter of Intent to play baseball at West Liberty University in West Virginia. Jacob signed his letter surrounded by his parents and friends on March 21.

He said that West Liberty was the perfect sized school for him, adding he is so excited and blessed to be able to continue playing baseball – something he’s done since he was 5 years old. Next year, the Hilltoppers plan to utilize Jacob at the catcher position and possibly third base.

Jacob says, “I want to thank my parents for giving me all the hope in the world. My coaches for pushing me to work hard and my friends and teammates for picking me up when I was down.”

Following this season at CHS, Jacob will be a four-year letter-winner in baseball and currently holds a .310 batting average, .940 fielding percentage and has caught 25 runners stealing base.
