Reiki Clinic in Chester

DeJohn Funeral Homes & Celebrations Center will host a Reiki clinic at 12811 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township.

Appointments will be held every 30 minutes with a special Reiki therapist. Pre-registration is recommended to reserve a specific time. Sessions are $20 per person for a 30 minute appointment and $40 for a 50 minute appointment. Register online only at DeJohnCares.com/Reiki.

Walk-ins are welcome for $25 per person for a 30 minute session. Prepay online or cash only at the door.

Dementia Care Training

May 21, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Join at the Chardon Public Library, 110 E. Park St., for a free training program for both family and professional caregivers who provide care to those with dementia-related diseases. Attendees will receive an overview of Alzheimer’s and other dementias, learn effective communication techniques and strategies for managing challenging behaviors and get tips to engage those struggling with cognitive problems.

Family First Council

Geauga Family First Council will meet at the Geauga County Job and Family Services building located on 12480 Ravenna Road in Chardon. Meetings are open to the public.

Help For Mental Illness

Geauga County National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) offers support, education and advocacy for those affected by mental illness. Programs meet at the NAMI Geauga office located at 8389 Mayfield Road, Suite A-2 in Chester Township.

NAMI Basics is a free, education program for parents and caregivers of children and adolescents experiencing mental challenges. The free class will meet May 30, June 13 and 27, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be provided.

The Youth Mental Health First Aid training program on July 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. teaches how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. Cost is $40 and includes all materials and meals.
