Grandparents Day
Everyone was so thrilled to once again see so many grandparents walk the halls of Jordak Elementary School for the annual Grandparents Day. Students love showing them their classrooms and the building, and shopping at the book fair and plant sale are added bonuses. Families can also enjoy breakfast treats and get their pictures taken together.
1st-Graders Create Tornadoes
Weather phenomena can be a little difficult to grasp, but thanks to a recent experiment, first-graders now have a better understanding of how tornadoes can form. Science guy Claire Zurbuch, aka Mr. Z., visited all classes recently to have them perform the tornado in a bottle experiment.
Students swirled water in adjoining bottles to create a vortex, making it easier for air to come in and water to pour out, which then created a rotating tornado. Students were very excited to see the concept develop in front of them.
Senior Signs Letter Of Intent
Recent graduate Brian Westover has signed his letter of intent to play baseball at Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU) next year. In addition to being a three-year letter winner for the Cardinal Baseball team, Brian is also a two-year letter winner for the soccer team. He plans to major in exercise science at MVNU.
