Red Ribbon Week

The Red Ribbon Campaign is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation reaching millions of young people. Each day, students at St. Helen School focused on why it’s important to respect themselves and others.

Last Monday, each student was given a wristband with the words Respect: Yourself, Others and Our Differences. They also received a water bottle with the same words of encouragement. They learned how important it is to take care of themselves by staying hydrated with water, not sugary drinks.

The Geauga County Sheriff K-9 Unit visited the school on Tuesday. Deputies Borden and Smith spoke to the students about their job and how they work with their K-9 partners. Then Deputy Smith and Spirit showed how they work together with a few demonstrations.

On Wednesday, students had a dress down in red day to spread awareness and be in comfy clothes for their extra exercise or activity time. On Thursday, students talked about Halloween safety so they could be ready for their trick-or-treating fun that evening.
