Seeking KCAC Members

The Kenston Board of Education created the Kenston Citizens Advisory Committee (KCAC) at its November 2006 meeting. KCAC was formed with the overall purpose to provide input to the Board on matters, financial and otherwise, as seen from the Kenston community’s perspective reinforcing the district’s vision statement that “an exemplary school district is committed to establishing and maintaining effective partnerships with its community.”

Visit the district website for additional information; search KCAC.

School Closing Decisions

Many factors are carefully analyzed when deciding to remain open or close schools in bad weather, such as: information on road conditions from township road departments, local law enforcement and our Transportation Department. Kenston School District covers 54 square miles; amount of snow and ice accumulated; whether or not the precipitation will continue throughout the day; temperature and wind chill; weather predictions, including those from the weather alert service; timing of storm; building conditions, such as whether there is electricity, heat or water; and parking lot conditions.

The decision to close will generally be made by 5:30 a.m. or earlier. Notifications will be delivered via the district’s automated calling and text system, local TV stations, district and high school home pages of the website, Twitter @KenstonSchools or by calling the School Closing Hotline at 440-564-2134.

Center Stage Presents Elf the Musical

Kenston Center Stage will perform “Elf the Musical” on Dec. 5, 6 and 7 at 7 p.m. in the Robert A. Lee Auditorium at Kenston High School. Tickets are $14 mezzanine, $12 floor and $10 balcony and are on sale at www.kenstonlocal.org.

The modern-day, winter classic is sure to make everyone embrace his or her inner elf. After all, the best way to spread holiday cheer is singing loud for all to hear.

Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh realities that his father is on the naughty list and his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of the holiday.
