CFMS Students of the Month
The Student of the Month award at Chagrin Falls Middle School acknowledges students for their outstanding performance and rewards them for their efforts. The students were chosen by seventh- and eighth-grade teams to be a Tiger of the Month. The students exemplify the Tiger Techniques of Think, Integrity, Grit, Effort and Responsibility. They receive personalized tiger water bottles from the PTO.
Seventh-grader Fraya Brattebo is an engaged learner and has a positive attitude. Her inquisitive nature adds so much to class discussions. Fraya actively participates in Socratic Seminars, where she is a leader in all activities and assignments. She is also a dedicated and valued member of the Speech and Debate team where she splits her time between Original Oratory and Public Forum Debate. Fraya is a talented musician and is in select choir and a leader in the clarinet section in band.
Seventh-grader Cam Mateyo is an observant and reflective student. He notices interesting patterns and his responses in class are thoughtful and promote such wonderful discussion. Cam’s work is reflective of his great efforts. He is a diligent participant in Socratic Seminars and forums where he is truly a leader and role model. As a Public Forum debater, Cam is a meticulous researcher who offers wonderful perspective to each topic. Cam is a talented saxophone player. He has even begun to study the bari sax, which may weigh as much as Cam.
Eighth-grader Amelia Bencko is a hardworking and dedicated student who always goes above and beyond what is expected of her. She is helpful, kind and a fantastic role model for her peers. Amelia is attentive to detail, producing high quality work in all of her classes. Her out- standing Spanish skills and unselfish attitude make her an exemplary Tiger Tutor. She gives up her own time to help others succeed academically. Serving on Student Council, Amelia puts in extra hours to make Chagrin Falls Middle School a special place. One can find her working on bulletin boards, creating announcements and organizing spirit weeks that are enjoyed by the whole school.
Eighth-grader Sven Nielsen is an excellent cello player in the eighth-grade orchestra. He comes to class with a positive attitude, is always prepared for rehearsals and is willing to help other members of the ensemble. Sven is kind and respectful to his peers and adults alike and carries himself as a mature young man. He is always prepared and attentive in class.
Rotary Student of the Month
Chagrin Falls High School senior Grace Lee has been selected as the November Chagrin Valley Rotary Student of the Month. Lee was chosen based on her leadership and service qualities she has displayed in the community.
Lee has been the recipient of several awards during her high school career. These include National Merit Scholar semifinalist, AP Capstone Diploma, AP National Scholar Award, AP Scholar With Distinction Award, We Solve Problems Essay Contest 10th-grade winner and National Federation of Music Clubs Fourth Cup.
In her time at CFHS, Lee has been a member of the cross country team, the track and field team and the Public Forum Debate team. Further, Lee is a Write Place writing intern, Piano By The Falls member, Chinese language tutor and participant in the CFHS Bridge to the World study program with Huipu High School.
Outside of school, Lee is a volunteer at Cleveland Clinic and a Sunday school teacher at a church in Wickliffe. She has also attended the Youth Leadership Conference on Asian and Pacific Islander public health at Stanford University as well as the National Student Leadership Conference on health and medicine at Northwestern University.
Her accelerated classes throughout her four years at CFHS include Honors English 9, Honors Algebra 2, Honors Pre-Calculus, Honors Chemistry, Honors Chinese 3, Honors Chinese 4, AP Seminar, AP World History, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP English Language, AP English Literature, AP Research, AP US History, AP US Government, AP Statistics and Probability, AP Biology and AP Chinese.
After high school, Lee plans to attend a four-year university.
PAX Leaders Recognized
Each month, students at Chagrin Falls Intermediate School are recognized for PAX leadership and being a great peer role model. On Nov. 22, the school recognized the first trimester PAX leaders. Parents were invited to attend the celebration.

November winners are fourth-graders Anna Hively, Collin Caccamo and Chase Deimling; fifth-graders Peter Fischer, Megan Shislia and Brooke Lawrence; and sixth-graders Sophia Pitts, Jude Armstrong and Michael Brosnan.
