At approximately 4:43 p.m. Dec. 29, a two-vehicle crash occurred on U.S. Route 422 in Troy Township that killed one woman and injured another.
Kathleen M. Huntsman, 61, of Macedonia, died in the accident, which happened 0.4 miles west of mile post 11 at Shaw Road, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Huntsman was traveling northbound in a 2018 Subaru Forester on Shaw Road and Shannon L. Mosier, 24, of Burton, was traveling eastbound in a 2015 Audi A4 on Route 422 when Huntsman reportedly failed to yield for the stop sign at the intersection of Shaw Road and Route 422, officials said.
Mosier’s vehicle struck the driver’s side door of the Subaru and Huntsman was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash, the patrol reported, adding Mosier was transported to University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center via Auburn Rescue with non-life threatening injuries.
Auburn Township, Troy Township and Bainbridge Township fire departments, as well as the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office, Bainbridge Police Department and highway patrol responded to the scene.
Due to the investigation of the crash, Route 422 was closed for roughly three hours. The events that led up to the crash remain under investigation, according to the patrol.
