Kindergarten Parent Orientation
Information Night for incoming kindergarten parents will be held virtually on Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. for children entering kindergarten in August. Children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 30, 2021.
Information about kindergarten and the registration process will be shared during the event. Visit kenstonlocal.org or Kenston Schools Facebook on Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. to link to the Zoom meeting.
Online kindergarten registration will run Feb. 2 through March 19. Complete online registration and schedule a registration appointment to bring supporting documentation.
Distinguished Hall of Fame
The Kenston Alumni Association is seeking outstanding individuals for induction into the 2021 Distinguished Hall of Fame. These people will be graduates or staff members of Auburn, Bainbridge or Kenston schools who have achieved success in their careers and have made significant contributions in their fields and society.
To be eligible, nominees must have graduated in the class of 2011 or before or retired/resigned from the district by June 1, 2011, or before, and not currently be employed by the Kenston Schools. Visit www.kenstonlocal.org for more information.
The deadline for nominations is Feb. 26. Inductees will be recognized during Homecoming 2021.
A panel of Kenston High School students, alumni, staff and administrators will select inductees for the Hall of Fame. Selections will be based on nominations, information received from friends/families and an application completed by the individuals themselves. Applications are available at kenstonlocal.org.
KIS Students of the Month
Kenston Intermediate School is pleased to announce their Students of the Month for January.
Students selected for “self-control” Student of the Month honors were fourth-graders Caz Bushnell, Darryn Dallas, Dominic Eberly, Christian Hoffman-Konst, Norah Jahn, Mira Jarzembak, Catarina Kanieski, Sam Lanning, J.J. Somich and Lyla Taylor; and fifth-graders, Michael Albano, Nicoletta Bares, Michael Cieslak, Brooke Corcoran, Beniamino DiFiore, Joshua Lanning, Jackson Reed, Natalie Strongosky, Clara Struk and Sia Taylor.
KHS Students of the Month
Kenston High School is pleased to announce their Students of the Month for January.
Students selected for Student of the Month honors were ninth-graders Griffin Acker and Avery Jakacki; 10th-graders Ava Arslanian and Bradley Wichert; 11th-graders, Zoe Doyle and Claire Roch; and 12th-graders Autumn Hambry and Kara Kaseda.
Speech and Debate Update
Kenston’s Speech and Debate team continues to compete virtually at tournaments most weekends. At the Vermilion Middle School Tournament, Marin Carlson earned tournament champion honors in Declamation for the second week in a row. Also placing were Piper Noda, seconnd in Interpretation; Kate Tobin, third in Interpretation;l Madelyn Foerster, fourth in Oratory; Charlie McBride, sixth in Oratory; and Gabriella Bates, seventh in Oratory. Grace Voudris won extemporaneous debates against Hathaway Brown and University School.
From the high school team, Samantha Stephens placed second and Colin Varga placed seventh in Congressional Debate. Eden Truax placed eight in Declamation.
During the Wooster Tournament, Eden Truax reached semifinals in Declamation.
At the Berea Tournament, high school students Delaney Bochenek and Ella Jewell won three out of four of their debates, with Ella placing fourth.
The middle school team also competed in the Berea Tournament. Grace Voudris was tournament champion with a four-win and no loss record. Also placing were Nathan Rolf, fifth place in Extemporaneous Debate; and Charlie McBride, sixth place in Extemporaneous Debate.
At the Canfield Tournament, placing were Marin Carlson, third in Declamation; and Gabriella Bates, fourth in Oratory.
From the middle school team, in Extemporaneous Debate at the Berea tournament, Grace Voudris was the tournament champion with a four-win and no loss record while also placing were Nathan Rolf in fifth place and Charlie McBride in sixth place.
In Extemporaneous Debate at the Brecksville tournament, Nathan Rolf and Charlie McBride both won three out of their four debates, with Nathan placing third and Charlie placing seventh.
