Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition
The artwork of Kenston High School artists Malcolm Linder and Maria Vincenti have been selected as the top 25 in the 51st Annual Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition. Their work was selected from over 6,200 statewide entries. “Butterfly Effect” by Malcolm Linder and “Tally” by Maria Vincenti will be on display in the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower, across from the State Capitol, through the end of May. “Sign of the Times” by Sophia Balunek is also on display in Columbus as a state selection.
Grace Geisler, Maggie Eibler, Samantha Henrikson, Lily Peelman, Sophia Balunek and Maria Vincenti received regional recognition for their artwork.
The exhibition is a valuable incentive for Ohio’s youth; it encourages an appreciation for the arts throughout Ohio and reflects the quality of art instruction and talent in the state.
Outstanding Teacher Award
Kenston High School teacher Brian Holley has been recognized with the Franklin B. Walter Outstanding Teacher Achievement Award by State Support Team Region 3. Mr. Holley is an integral part of the special education department at the high school, where he has served as an intervention specialist since 2011. Mr. Holley works closely with the English department to develop and deliver curriculum. His co-taught classes are truly collaborative efforts, sharing the responsibilities of planning and delivering lessons, all while working closely with the students with special needs. His passion for helping kids reach their fullest potential is evident in everything he does for students.
R.A. Horn Award
Kenston senior Nathan Arnold was honored with the R.A. Horn Award by the State Support Team Region 3 for his efforts and hard work. Nathan has worked diligently through his high school career, always pushing himself to achieve through hard work and learning from mistakes. Nathan completed the Ohio Means Jobs Readiness Seal, demonstrating his strengths, strong work ethic and experience that employers are looking for in today’s workforce. Nathan plans to continue his education at Kent State University – Geauga Campus to study business.
International Cosmonautics
In Mr. Ted Krejsa’s classes, Russian language students participated in the International Cosmonautics Day celebration marking the space flight of Yuri Gagarin on April 12.Via Zoom, students from Cleveland’s sister city, Volgograd, presented on Neil Armstrong’s first moonwalk while the Great Lakes Science Center shared the history and importance of these space flights.
