Illuminating Handwashing Lesson
Personal hygiene is an important part of the fourth- and fifth-grade physical education curriculum. Glo Germ, a solution that simulates germs, was applied to students’ hands. After washing their hands, students checked under an ultraviolet light to reveal how well they washed their hands.
Mrs. Jessica Mathews, University Hospitals community outreach registered nurse, and Mr. Joe Hritz, physical education teacher, collaborated on the hygiene lesson that featured the importance and proper technique for handwashing. Kenston appreciates its partnership with University Hospitals to keep students healthy and strong.
Timmons Lunch Bunch
Congratulations to Timmons Elementary School Students selected for Lunch Bunch honors in October. Kindergartners honored with “Respect” awards were Kannon Beach, John Henry Butler III, Harper Catania, Harper Dwyer, Margot Jahn, Amelie Kiner, Dean Longano, Madelyn Madsen and Abigaile Schock. First-graders honored were Braden Austin, Fiona Blanchard, Valentine Closs IV, Hunter Freshman, Dean Krisfalusy, Nolan Rayle and Colin Schultek.
Second-graders were Kacie Braverman, Kevin Dobler, Meara Hanson, Emerson Kozel, Carmen Longano, Lincoln McGlone, Maximus Pannunzio and Haya Suhail. Third-graders were Ryan DeWalt, Declan Dwyer, Michael Marsh Jr., Wyatt Sargent, Riley Savage, Sylvia Sebastiano and Gianna Spada.
KMS Student of the Month
Kenston Middle School recognized its Students of the Month for October. They were sixth-graders Adam Barr, Philip Brodsky, Grace England and Molly Thomas; seventh-graders Graham Christopher, Justin McBride, Lauren Vura and Keira Walz; and eighth-graders Ronnie Fratoe, Carmen Fratoe, Lily Rieger and Shriya Selvan.
KMS Student of the Quarter
Kenston Middle School students were recognized as Students of the Quarter by their encore teachers, art, music, physical education, foreign language and technology. They are sixth-graders Maren Hill and Zachary Radefeld; seventh-graders Brooklyn Alexander and Colin Murphy; and eighth-graders Anna Falkenberg and Charlie O’Brien.

Kenston High School is pleased to announce their Students of the Month for November. Students selected for Student of the Month honors were ninth-graders Charles Eibler and Benjamin Fink; 10th-graders Sophia Alandt and Ava Marcoguiseppe; 11th-graders Olivia Damiano and Viktoriya Taran; and 12th-graders Leah Jarmolowicz and Will Lauer.
KCS Performs Father Knows Best
Kenston Center Stage presents “Father Knows Best” on Nov. 4, 5 and 6 at 7 p.m. and a 2 p.m. matinee performance on Nov. 6.
The play brings the popular ‘50s radio and TV show to life. It is about a wise family man, Jim Anderson, his common-sense wife Margaret, and their children Betty, Bud and Kathy. When the busy family starts to scatter for the evening for their various activities, Father puts his foot down and demands everyone stay at home. As a result, the town’s social life is suddenly centered on the Anderson household. The excitement and humorous complications grow until Father finally discovers that while he may know best, the young people know a little, too.
The production will feature two alternating casts. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $10 cash or check made payable to: Kenston Board of Education.
Speech and Debate Update
The Kenston High School Speech and Debate Team attended its first in-person tournament in almost 20 months. Traveling to the novice tournament at GlenOak High School in Stark County, Gaby Bates placed third in Informative Speaking, Addie Altmann placed third in Humorous Interpretation, Emily Kovatch placed fourth in Congressional Debate, Hannah Jamieson placed fifth in Original Oratory and Lyric Dickson placed seventh in Declamation. Competing in their first tournament were Mackenzie Villers in Congressional Debate and Emily Hunt in Declamation.
Safe School Hotline
The Ohio Department of Education has partnered up with Ohio Homeland Security to offer all Ohio school districts a safe and secure tip line. The tip line can be anonymous, or callers have the option to leave contact information. Any threatening information or suspicious activity will be assessed by the Homeland Security team to determine the level of the threat. If it’s determined to be a high-level threat, they will communicate directly with local law enforcement and the school district.

Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten information night for students entering school in August 2022 will be held on Jan. 31, 2022. Children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 30, 2022.
