November Rotary Senior
Ryan Peters has been selected Kenston’s Chagrin Valley Rotary Club Student of the Month in November. He maintains a 4.509-grade point average. He was Kenston’s nominee for the Cleveland Technical Societies Council Honors Junior program for his academic achievement and interest in STEM. He has received the President’s Award of Academic Excellence for his scholarship and community service. In addition, he has received nine Academic Awards in advanced chemistry, AP U.S. history, AP statistics, honors algebra II, honors biology, honors chemistry, honors geometry, intro to business and Spanish III. The College Board has also recognized him as an AP Scholar with Honors.
Ryan gives back to his community through his volunteer projects at school. As a Bomber Bash Lead Crew member, he has planned and organized student fundraisers and community golf outings, raising over $10,000 annually for the Northern Ohio Chapter of A Kid Again, a charity that serves children with life-threatening conditions. He was also part of an elite group of students that championed “Bombers for a Breakthrough,” raising over $32,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Active as a class officer, Ryan has served as the president and vice-president of his class. He is also a member of the Cross Country and Track teams and participates in Spanish Club, Math Club and Science Olympiad.
Outside of school, Ryan works at the Chagrin Valley Country Club. He has also been a junior camp counselor at the Gates Mills Camp. In addition, he is active in his church, Holy Angels, participating in BREATHE and community service days.
Ryan is currently undecided on the college he will attend next year. He plans to pursue a major in computer science with a minor in data analytics.
Bomber Bash Recognized
The Kenston High School Bomber Bash has been recognized for its partnership and outstanding contributions to the community as a 2021 Medical Mutual Pillar Award for Community Service honoree.
Kenston High School students partner with the Northern Ohio Chapter of A Kid Again to give children with life-threatening illnesses and their families a time out from illness. This year, they raised over $10,000 with a community golf outing. The proceeds will be used to support the holiday party and Adventure in a Box activities. Students also volunteer at Adventures for critically ill children and families throughout the year.
4 Cities 4 Peace
Russian Language students in Ted Krejsa’s world language classes joined students in Russia for a virtual workshop in conjunction with the Council of International Programs. The 4 Cities 4 Peace program aims to strengthen U.S. – Russian relations through youth and community activities. It is in partnership with the Cleveland-Volgoograd Sister Cities project in partnership with the Sister Cities of Greater Portland, Maine and Arkhangelsk, Russia.
