Athletic Signings
Five Kenston student-athletes will continue their athletic careers competing at college. Maddie Blazey will attend Slippery Rock University to play lacrosse. Rachel Fender will attend Lake Erie College to play softball. Ryan Miller will continue his football career at Indiana University. Julia Sell will play volleyball at Youngstown State University, and Jack Vasil will be attending Lake Erie College to continue his baseball career.

KHS Students of the Month
Kenston High School is pleased to announce their Students of the Month for December. Students selected as Student of the Month honors were ninth-graders Joshua Koltas and Benjamin Peters; 10th-graders Julia Arnaut and Noah Melhem; 11th-graders Emma Bobnar and Robert Phillips; and 12th-graders Rebecca Rengers and Miranda Wood.
Speech and Debate Update
Congratulations to Kenston’s speech and debate team for their performance at the Wadsworth tournament. KHS came in sixth place in the small team division. In Congressional Debate, Ryann Greulich placed second and earned a bid to states, while Max Yost placed fifth. Jacob Spencer placed first in the Novice Division of Humorous Interpretation and Addison Altmann placed third. Eden Truax earned a “1” and Zach Reiser earned a “2” in one of their rounds. Brett King competed for the first time in International Extemporaneous Speaking.
From Kenston Middle School, in Congressional Debate, Kherington Swader placed first while Nate McIntosh placed third. Both Kenston teams were undefeated in Public Forum Debate with a 6-0 record, with Brooke Carlson/Reagan Carnes placing first and Audrey Earl/Jillian Ragsdale placing second. In Oratory, Zoe LeFeber placed second, Ella Aznavorian placed third, Maren Hill placed fourth, Amelia Jenson placed fifth and Demi Marshall placed sixth. Kate Tobin placed fifth in Interpretation. Others successfully competing in their first tournament were Giuliana Hoover, Riley O’Hare and Vivian Honaker.
Kenston’s Speech and Debate Team traveled to Youngstown, where Eden Truax was tournament champion in Informative Speaking at the Poland High School tournament. Also placing from the high school was Addie Altmann, who took sixth place in Humorous Interpretation.
Kenston’s middle schoolers did amazing too. In Declamation, Marin Carlson placed first and Rachael Clark placed second, while Kherington Swader placed second in Congressional Debate. In Extemporaneous Debate, Audrey Earl placed first, Jillian Ragsdale placed second, Zach Radefeld placed third, Will Turner placed fourth, Jack Zaranec placed fifth and Charlie Doersen placed sixth. In Oratory, Ella Aznavorian placed fourth and Zoe LeFeber placed fifth. Teammates Brooke Carlson and Reagan Carnes placed second in Public Forum Debate. Katherine Tobin placed sixth in Interpretation. Those successfully competing in their first speech and debate tournament were Mira Jarzembak and Vienne Rechtiene.
