Food Pantry Friday

Feb. 25, 10 a.m. to noon

The food pantry at Chester Christian Center Church will be open to the community. The pantry is open to anyone who is in need of food. One does not need to be a member of the church to attend.

Chester Christian Center is located at 11815 Chillicothe Road in Chester Township.

Community Dinner

Feb. 25, 5-6:30 p.m.

Mayfield United Methodist Church is hosting a free drive-through community dinner at the church located at 7747 Mayfield Road, Chester Township.

Prayer Service of Remembrance

Feb. 27, 3 p.m.

St. Mary Parish in Chardon is hosting an ecumenical prayer service to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the Chardon High School shooting. People of all faith traditions are welcome to participate in a service of Christian prayer, reflection and remembrance.

LEAF Financial Aid Night

Feb. 28, 5:30 p.m.

Join advisor Kim Greene from the Lake/Geauga Educational Assistance Foundation as she offers advice and guidance to parents and students on navigating through the college financial aid process. The free session will take place at Thompson Public Library, Registration is not required.

Tea Party Meets

March 1, 6:30 p.m.

Dr. Myron Shibley will speak on “Marxism as a Religion” at the next meeting of the Geauga County Tea Party at the Metzenbaum Center, 8200 Cedar Road, Chester Township. He will present the manifestations of Marxism in America and provide a perspective on their intents, methods and effects.

Dorothy’s Porch Giveaway

March 3 and 4, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Dorothy’s Porch, a free community giveaway of clothing, bedding, household items, books and toys, will be held at Celebration Lutheran church, 10621 Auburn Road in Chardon.

Maple Driving Tour

The 2022 N.E. Ohio “How Sweet It Is” drive-it-yourself Maple Tour hosted by Maple Producers of NE Ohio will be March 5-6 and 12-13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Maple syrup producers across northeast Ohio will open their sugarhouses to visitors to learn about their operations and see how maple syrup and maple products are made.

Improving Farm Profits

March 8, 6:30 p.m.

Geauga and Portage soil and water conservation districts, Heritage Cooperative, Pheasants Forever and Natural Resources Conservation Service are hosting an online webinar to discuss improving profits for grain-growing operations by identifying and addressing problem areas in fields that are losing money.

Genealogical Society Meets

March 8, 7-8:30 p.m.

Alan Jones will present “Free Online Help for Family History Research” via Zoom at the next meeting of the Geauga County Genealogical Society. The program will begin after a short meeting.

Munson Indoor Flea Market

March 12, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Munson Township’s indoor flea market will be held at the Munson Town Hall and Fire Station Bay, 12210 Auburn Road. The $1 entrance fee will go toward the Munson Township Scholarship Fund. Youth 12 and under are free.

Chili Cook-Off

March 12, 5–7 p.m.

Montville Firefighters Association is hosting a chili cook-off at Montville Community Center, 9755 Madison Road, Montville.

Township. There will be judged categories and popular vote. Cost is $10 for a sample cup of each entry along with crackers, beverage, and dessert.

There is no entry fee, but preregistration is requested. The event is open to all.
