A free community giveaway of clothing for the family, bedding, household items, toys, books and miscellaneous items will be held at Celebration Lutheran Church, 10621 Auburn Road, Chardon.
St. Patrick Chinese Auction
Sept. 10, 11 a.m.
St. Patrick Church is hosting its annual Chinese auction at the church located at 16550 Rock Creek Road in Thompson Township. Doors open at 11 a.m. for the auction and a light lunch. The drawing begins at 1:30 p.m. followed by a 50/50 raffle. Winners need not be present.
An entrance fee of $2 includes six raffle tickets. Auction, high end auction and raffle tickets will be for sale.
Geauga Veterans Sports Fest
Sept. 10, 3-8 p.m.
The fourth annual Geauga Veterans Sports Fest will be held in the parking lot of Great Lakes Outdoor Supply, 14855 N. State Ave., Middlefield. Fireworks show begins at 8 p.m.

Genealogical Society Meets

The Geauga County Genealogical Society will meet in the Bostwick room of the Chardon Library, 110 E. Park St. Chardon.
Melissa Cole and Lynn Vandevort will discuss how to utilize the resources of the Anderson Allyn room, the library’s updated genealogical resource room. The program will begin after a short business meeting.

Slovenian Sausage Festival
Sept. 14, 12-8 p.m.
The National Cleveland-Style Polka Hall of Fame and Museum is hosting the 18th annual Slovenian Sausage Festival at SNPJ Farm, 10946 Heath Road, Kirtland.
Enjoy non-stop polkas and waltzes with favorite Cleveland-style bands. Sample sausages from several makers and then pick a winner. Prizes are awarded in the People’s Choice and the juried Best of Fest categories.
Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the gate. Youth 18 and under are free.

Rummage Sale

Peace Lutheran Church will host a rummage and bake sale in the lower level parking lot behind the church located at 12686 Bass Lake Road, Munson Township.
Airport Community Day
Sept. 17
The Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter 5 will host its last fly-in of the summer at the Geauga County Airport, 15421 Old State Road in Middlefield.
An all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast will be served from 7-11 a.m. Donation is $10 for adults, $5 for kids and free for children under 3.
Youth will enjoy a variety of hands-on activities including flight simulators, crafts and free Young Eagle airplane rides for ages 8-17 beginning at 8 a.m. Parental permission is required; register at youngeaglesday.org.
The event features aircraft displays and demonstrations. Bring lawn chairs. Fly-in or drive in.

DTJ Clambake

DTJ Taborville is holding a clambake at its location in Auburn Township at the intersection of Bartholemew and Quinn roads. Cost is $30 per bake. Extra clams are $10 per dozen. A children’s hot dog meal will be available for $6.

Chardon VFW Rummage Sale

The Chardon VFW Post 6519 Auxiliary will hold its annual rummage sale at the post located at 752 Water St. in Chardon. The sale includes housewares, small appliances, tools, camping and sport gear, pet supplies, gardening equipment, plus many new and nearly new contents from two estates.
American Legion Meet-and-Greet

Burton American Legion Post 459 is hosting a meet-and-greet for all veterans at the legion post located at 14052 Goodwin St. in Burton. Free hot dogs will be served.
