Dorothy’s Porch Giveaway

Dec. 1 and 2, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Dorothy’s Porch, a free community giveaway of clothing for the family, bedding, household items, Christmas items, books and toys, will be held at Celebration Lutheran Church, 10621 Auburn Road in Chardon.

Christmas Lighting of the Square

Dec. 1, 6:30-8 p.m.

Chardon Square Association will host the lighting of Chardon Square park and the arrival of Santa on a horse drawn sleigh at 7 p.m. The event includes performances by Geauga Music Center Band at 6:30 p.m. and Chardon High School Free Harmony at 7 p.m.

Pilgrim Christian Church will serve a chili dinner from 5-7 pm. Chardon Area Chamber of Commerce will serve hot cider and cookies.

Chardon Square is located at the intersection of state routes 44 and 6.

Annual Christmas Sale

Dec. 2 and 3, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Middlefield United Methodist Church will be hosting its annual Christmas sale at the church located at 14999 South State Ave., Middlefield. Parking is available behind the church.

There is a large assortment of new and gently used adult and children’s clothing, holiday dishes, books for all ages, DVDs, toys, stuffed animals, dishes, knick knacks, holiday decorations, puzzles, coats, purses and jewelry.

Breakfast with Santa

Dec. 3, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Geauga West Rotary Club is hosting its 30th annual all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast with Santa at West Geauga High School cafeteria, 13401 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township. Tickets are $8 per person at the door. Children 1 year and younger are free.

Take digital photos with Santa or bring a camera. Event includes Christmas music, face painting, games and special guests Rudolph and Santa Claus.

Proceeds support Rotary community projects and local activities.

Cookie Walk

Dec. 3, 9 a.m.

St. Luke Episcopal Church is hosting a cookie walk at the church located at 11519 Wilson Mills Road, Chardon. Select cookies and pay by the pound.

Breakfast with the Clauses

Dec. 3

Munson Township’s annual Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus takes place at the Munson Township Hall, 12210 Auburn Road.

Pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee will be served. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 4 to12. Children under 3 are free.

Pictures with Santa will be available on a jump drive for $10, with proceeds going to Boy Scout Troop 91.

Holiday Pops Concert

Dec. 3, 7 p.m.

Snowbelt Musical Arts Association presents a holiday pops concert featuring the Lake Effect Concert Band with conductor Greg Hillis at New Promise Church, 8671 Euclid-Chardon Road in Kirtland. The concert is free; donations will be accepted. For information, call 440-296-9610.

Festival of Trees

Dec. 3, 4, 10 and 11, noon to 6 p.m.

Middlefield Historical Society will host its Festival of Trees, an enchanted forest of beautifully trimmed trees, glimmering lights and festive holiday décor inside Middlefield’s historic 1818 Century Inn, 14979 South State Ave. Visitors may vote on People’s Choice.

Admission is free; donations will be accepted. There will be sales of live poinsettias, floral arrangements and raffle tickets for multiple prizes.

The site is also a Merry Middlefield Grinch drop-off location – bring new, unwrapped toys during open hours on Dec. 3 and 4.

Visit the Depot for a free peppermint ice cream cone; limited flavors of other ice cream treats will be available at half price.

Mrs. Claus Visits Historical Village

Dec. 4, 2-4 p.m.

Mrs. Claus returns to the Chesterland Historical Village located on the corner of Caves and Mayfield roads in Chester Township. She will greet children at the Tanner House. Activities include music with Brady Dean, story time, letter writing to Santa, crafts, a singalong and more.

Geauga Skywatchers Club

Dec. 5, 6;30 p.m.

Join Geauga Skywatchers Club for a virtual presentation of “The Galileo Mission to Jupiter.” The accomplishments of the mission, preparations for launch and an overview of the extended mission at Jupiter will be covered

Stars Basketball League

Registration is now open for Stars Basketball, a basketball league for all skill levels in grades 1-6 being held at Morning Star Church, 12550 Ravenna Road in Chardon. Evaluations will be held Dec. 5, 9 and 10. The season runs Jan. 16 through March 18.

Tea Party Meets

Dec. 6, 6:30 p.m.

Red Kettle Bell Ringing

Dec. 10, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Rotary Club of Burton-Middlefield will be ringing bells for the Salvation Army outside the Walmart doors in Middlefield.

All moneys raised by the Rotary clubs in Geauga County will be used to help Geauga County residents.

Claridon Cookie Walk

Dec. 10, 9-11 a.m.

The 22nd annual cookie walk will be held at First Congregational Church of Claridon, 13942 Mayfield Road. A wide assortment of homemade cookies will be offered at $8 per pound; boxes provided. The church is handicapped accessible. Funds raised will support the restoration of the church sanctuary after the collapse of the ceiling.

Home for the Holidays

Dec. 10, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Chardon Square Association hosts Home for the Holidays on Chardon Square. Activities include the Mistletoe Market from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
ice carving and cube building stations, story time with Mrs. Claus, hot cocoa bar, letters to Santa, live reindeer, carriage rides and more.
The shops on the square will be open, and restaurants will have specials and promotions as well.

RockAbility Holiday Concert

Dec. 10, 7 p.m.

RockAbility, an adaptive, integrated music project for musicians with developmental disabilities, will be performing at 7 p.m. Dec. 10 at Berkshire High School Auditorium, 14155 Claridon-Troy Road in Burton.

The performance is free, but the group is accepting donations at the door to support the program, which welcomes musicians with disabilities into performance-based musical projects

The concert will feature rock, folk and holiday music along with an appearance by Horvitz YouthAbility of JFSA Cleveland. The audience will be invited to participate and sing-along.

CWC Lunch and Program

Dec. 14, 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Join Christian Women’s Connection for lunch and a program at Family Life Center, 16349 Chillicothe Road, Bainbridge Township.

Enjoy holiday music by RockAbility, a band of musicians with developmental disabilities who play alongside neurotypical musicians. Featured speaker Sweeter Hodgins will present “Love Story With a Twist.”

Cost is $16 at the door.
