Seeking Career Speakers for May 9

Elementary school counselor Erika Barnett is recruiting volunteers who have a career that pertains to vehicles to showcase their career for the district’s grades 1-3 students at Careers on Wheels Day on May 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Munson Elementary School. It is the district’s second annual installment of the event after great success of the pilot event in 2022. The event hosts both Park and Munson elementary school students.

Careers on Wheels Day volunteers will share information about their career with students in a rotation of small groups. The 10-minute sessions will include time for Q&A and with the volunteer’s permission, time for students to explore the vehicle.

Mrs. Barnett stated, “Introducing younger students to careers and the working world early in their education plays an important role in child development and career readiness. We look forward to connecting and collaborating with community members in support of this exciting career education event.”

NHS Induction Ceremony

Chardon High School’s National Honor Society chapter hosted its annual induction ceremony on the evening of March 21, an on-site event that proudly welcomed 51 new members from the school’s sophomore and junior grade levels.

NHS, a nationwide organization, recognizes students who maintain an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher and are role models of the four pillars of NHS: Scholarship, Leadership, Character and Service.

The school’s induction event also honored the chapter’s 53 seniors through the presentation of graduation cords and included a warm introduction of the 2023-24 student officers: Julie Gehrke, president; Rae Kawalec, treasurer; Jen Kogovsek, secretary; Skylar Toth, vice president of communications; and Gray Tyminski, vice president of service.

CHS NHS is advised by faculty members Mrs. Ptasznik and Mrs. Korenke.
