First-Grade STEM
First-graders have been learning about the human body in their regular classes. Mrs. Bacher gave them materials and challenged them to build a tool that would allow them to hear their heartbeat. There were so many interesting designs.
They tested their builds by doing a very active dance and then listened for either their own heartbeat or someone else’s. They compared the tools that worked with tools that did not and then discussed how they could improve them.
Walking Rainbows
First-grade students in Ms. Agostino’s class conducted a science experiment working as a team to make a walking rainbow. Students collaborated with each other to conduct experiments and problem solving.
