The students demonstrate the three R’s of being Respectful, Responsible and Ready to Learn. Third quarter winners are: Sadie Henderson, Cara Borz and Jeremiah Frabotta for January; Emily Colella, Nick Misterka and Liam Magill for February; and Samantha Zontini, Gabby Atwara and Elijah Fesler for March.
West G Receives 5-Star Recognition
The prestigious 5-star banners from the Ohio Department of Education were recently received at West Geauga High School, West Geauga Middle School and Lindsey Elementary School in recognition of their accomplishments on the 2022-23 state report card. The district received an overall 5-star award for exceeding state standards across the five rated components: Achievement, Progress, Gap Closing, Early Literacy and Graduation. Only 75 school districts in Ohio obtained an overall 5-star award.
The state report card measures the performance of students in grades 3-12, so Westwood Elementary is unrated; however, the work of the staff to prepare its youngest students for the future is also to be commended.
Blue Ribbon School
The Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) honored Lindsey Elementary School at the recent Northeast Region Spring Conference for its 2023 National Blue Ribbon School Award. Accepting the commemorative plaque were Lindsey Principal Melissa Becerra and board member Mary-Michelle Colman-Walsh.
“It was an honor to be recognized by OSBA for Lindsey’s Nation Blue Ribbon Award,” said Mrs. Becerra. “It was a privilege to accept the award on behalf of the hard work and dedication from students, teachers and families.”
