OMEA Honor Choir
Kenston High School students Gabby Bates, Thomas Hunt, Luke Schmidt, Jacob Spencer, Erriana Strong and Arielle Tobler were selected to participate in the 2024 Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) District 4 and 7 Honor Choir at Cleveland State University from Nov. 7-9. The students were under the direction of Kenneth Sieloff, who is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting at the University of Michigan. The experience provided Kenston students with the opportunity to rehearse and perform with students from 35 other schools.
Early Signing Day
On Nov. 13, Kenston Schools celebrated four student-athletes who participated in early signing day and will continue on at the next level. The four athletes excel both on the field of play and in the classroom. Lilah Cornell will play soccer at Middle Tennessee State. Bria Devlin will play soccer at Ursuline College. Brianna McIvor will participate in cross country and track at Xavier University. Carmella Nilsson will play lacrosse at Tusculum University.
Kenston Speech and Debate
The Kenston Speech and Debate team has continued from where they left off last year with impressive results at the Hawken tournament on Nov. 10. Grace Voudris finished fourth in the Lincoln Douglas Debate, Brooke Carlson finished fifth in Congress, Alessia Cassina finished seventh in Dramatic Interpretation, Nathan Rolf was a Congress finalist and Zoe LeFeber won best speaker in two of her four Oratory rounds. The team looks forward to another great season and many successful tournaments.
American Mathematics Competition
Eight Kenston students achieved top scores in the American Mathematics Competition. Sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America, the competition is a series of exams designed to identify mathematically talented students across the nation.
The top-scoring freshmen and sophomores in the AMC-10 division were Matthew Collins, Colin Murphy, Joey Triscaro and Iva Samidan.
Aidan Insana, Cal Buchanan, Brendan Scheuer and Sophia Anderson were the top-scoring juniors and seniors in the AMC -12 division.
Silver Bells Holiday Boutique
Silver Bells Holiday Boutique will be held on Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kenston High School. Admission is free. The event benefits the Kenston High School After Prom. The boutique will feature over 80 unique local vendors; Jingle Bell Alley; Holly Jolly Lane with a silent auction of trees and gingerbread houses; Kenston Middle School choral performances; concessions; and raffle prizes.
