District Starts New School Year

Badger students of all ages returned to Berkshire’s campus on Sept. 3 for the first day of the 2025-26 school year. Superintendent John Stoddard along with all school principals and vice principals directed traffic, buses and students with smiles and greetings. Students carried backpacks, supplies and instruments, while fall athletes sported Badger gear to promote their teams. The Early Childhood Center welcomed the district’s youngest students as well. The day marked a smooth, energetic start to the new school year.

Berkshire Students Tour Europe

In June, 11 Berkshire students and several staff members spent two weeks touring Europe, visiting Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and France.

The group left on June 4 and flew from Cleveland to Munich, Germany. In Germany, they visited Rothenburg, Harburg, Augsburg and Dachau Concentration Camp. In Austria, they visited Innsbruck before heading to Verona and Venice, Italy, where they toured Murano, Burano, the Grand Canal and St. Mark’s Square, enjoyed gelato and took gondola rides. A highlight was visiting Sirmione on Lake Garda, a Mediterranean-like spot in the Italian Alps where they took a speedboat tour and ate Italian food.

The group continued to Lucerne, Switzerland, climbing Mount Rigi for sweeping Alpine views. In France and western Germany, they explored Colmar, Heidelberg and Strasbourg, before ending with three days in Paris, including the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Champs Elysees, Versailles, the Louvre and a Seine River cruise.

Students returned with new cultural experiences and a sense of independence. The biennial tour is organized by high school English teacher Meghan Riley-Farrow. For details on future trips, contact her at meghan.riley-farrow@berkshireschools.org.

Students Visit CVS Training Center

Badger Lab students recently visited the CVS Workforce Innovation & Talent Center in downtown Cleveland, a facility designed to provide hands-on job training in an inclusive, stress-free, simulated store environment.

Students practiced tasks such as fronting and facing, stocking and customer service using the same equipment found in real CVS stores. Specially trained staff guided them through responsibilities and expectations, helping prepare students for future employment.

The trip was organized by Badger Lab staff as part of the program’s focus on building essential workplace skills.
