Newbury Township Trustees are advancing plans to upgrade township technology, including livestreaming public meetings and modernizing the township website.
During the April 15 trustees meeting, trustees unanimously voted to obtain a quote from the Geauga County Automatic Data Processing board for cameras to livestream meetings on YouTube.
Trustees are still evaluating options for updating the township’s website.
During the meeting, Bobby Ruckstuhl, owner of ResourceShark, presented a proposal to modernize the current site.
The proposal includes a $10,000 build cost for a website of up to 250 pages, $500 per year for hosting and $300 per month for maintenance.
“The idea is to consolidate everything … on one site so that it’s efficient (and the) township can start marketing itself,” he said.
The maintenance agreement would include up to five hours of website work per month, such as building links or uploading videos, Ruckstuhl said.
“Also included in the proposal is maintenance and training so that you can self-manage as much as you want,” he said.
“It would be a severe upgrade from what already exists,” he added.
Officials hope to make a final decision on the website in the next few months, Trustee Carly Sayre said after the meeting.
“We don’t want to rush the decision as we want to make sure it encompasses all of the different applications and capabilities we want to provide residents with,” she said. “Since it’s a significant overhaul from the last website, we want to update it to the latest and greatest technology while trying to keep the costs low.”
