When Aquilla Village residents voted in 2024 to rejoin Claridon Township, ownership of 33 village-owned parcels transferred to the township. The village, originally part of the township, formed an independent entity decades ago. Several years ago, when village officials determined revenue could not sustain the village services, council voted to re-join the township. The legal disposal of those properties, some of which contain buildings, now falls to the township trustees. The board took several initial steps toward that process during its June 1 meeting.
