Rummage Sale

Newbury United Community Church is hosting a rummage sale at the church located at 14916 Auburn Road in Newbury Township. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, bag sale day.
Young of Heart
June 5, 11:30 a.m.
Geauga Young of Heart will meet at St. Anselm Church in Chester Township. Refreshments will be provided, and Janet Weir Creighton will be the guest speaker.
The annual birthday party for members will be June 19 with a baseball theme at St. Anselm Kelly Hall, featuring lunch, birthday cake and entertainment. Dress in Guardians garb. For reservations, call Mary Ann at 440-729-7489.
Upcoming trips include a June 10 visit to the Aurora Atlas Movie Theater to see a movie and an Aug. 12 luncheon cruise on the Valley Gem Sternwheeler in Marietta, followed by an open-air safari at The Wilds.

EAA Pancake Breakfasts Set
EAA Chapter 5 pilots will host pancake breakfasts June 6 from 8 a.m. to noon at Lake County Executive Airport, 1969 Lost Nation Road, Willoughby, and June 27 from 7-11 a.m. at Geauga County Airport, 15421 Old State Road, Middlefield.
Breakfast includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, coffee and drinks. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3-12; children under 3 are free.
Free Young Eagles airplane rides for ages 8-17, with parental permission, and hands-on youth activities also will be offered.

Mayfield Church Garage Sale
June 6, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Mayfield Church is holding its annual garage sale in the main parking lot of the church located at 7747 Mayfield Road, Chester Township. The event features more than 30 sellers. Hot dogs will be available at 11:30 a.m.

Wool Hollow Fest

The Chesterland Historical Foundation will host the annual Wool Hollow Fest on the village green located at the corner of Caves and Mayfield roads in Chester Township. The free event includes demonstrations, live music, an open house and crafts.
Organic Lawn Care
June 9, 6 p.m.
Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District will present “A Beautiful Lawn Organically,” a program on organic lawn care at the Bainbridge Library.
Mel Hauser of Good Nature Organic Lawn Care will discuss chemical-free lawn and landscape practices, healthy soil, natural lawn products and ways to reduce chemical use and costs.

VFW Wednesday Dinners

Democracy by Design

The League of Women Voters of Geauga County celebrates art and democracy at the second annual Democracy by Design at Chardon Fairmount Center for the Arts, 106 Water St., Chardon. The benefit will feature more than 100 artworks from over 40 local artists.

Chardon All-Class Alumni Dinner
June 20, 5:30 p.m.
Chardon High School will host its annual All-Class Alumni Dinner at St. Mary’s Banquet Hall, 401 North St., Chardon. A beef and chicken buffet will be served at 6:30 p.m. A cash bar (BYOB) will be available.
Several classes will be in attendance, and high school memorabilia will be on display.
Six inductees to the Chardon High School Alumni Hall of Fame will be honored at the dinner. Recipients of Chardon High School Alumni Association scholarships also will be recognized.
CHS Principal Tomco will lead a tour of the high school at 4 p.m. before the dinner.
