Final Placement Exam Set

Potential members of the class of 2017 will have their final opportunity to take NDCL’s placement exam on Feb. 16, from 8-11 a.m. Top scorers are eligible for renewable academic and leadership scholarships.

According to Keith Corlew, director of admissions and tuition assistance, about 20 eighth graders have already registered for the February exam, which is an unusually high number at this time of year. Nearly 300 students took the exam this fall.

“These numbers reflect the quality of our programs, the strength of our reputation, and the efforts of parents, students, faculty, alumni, and friends to spread the word about NDCL,” Mr. Corlew explained.

Students may register online at www.ndcl.org. Questions should be directed to Mr. Keith Corlew.

Fieldstone Farm Drive

Senior Jaclyn Melvin spent her winter break collecting tack and other supplies to help persons with disabilities who participate in the equine programs of Fieldstone Farm Therapeutic Riding Center.

By interacting with Fieldstone’s horses, persons with disabilities improve their balance, strengthen muscles, work on educational goals, advance communication skills, increase their self-esteem and gain confidence.

Jaclyn, who this fall was named a National Merit semifinalist, rides and works at Maypine Farm in Willoughby Hills. She asked other riders to contribute used tack for Fieldstone’s spring tack sale and to donate supplies on the center’s wish list.

Students of the Month

Each month, the academic departments recognize students for their exceptional accomplishments in the classroom. Visit www.ndcl.org for a list of January’s honorees.
