Cold Nose, Warm Art

Kenston Intermediate School fourth-grader Layla Gilbert was the third place winner in the Gallery One first annual Cold Nose Warm Art Contest. She and fellow classmates Colin Mast, Aubrey Taylor, Samantha Henrikson and Amelia Witmer-Rich created original artistic interpretations of Clancy, Gallery One’s rescue dog and official “Patron of the Arfs.” Mrs. Jennifer Allemang is their art teacher.

Rotary Senior

Melissa Landsman has been selected Kenston’s Chagrin Valley Rotary Club Student of the Month. She has lettered in volleyball and academics. As a senior, she earned All Academic honors in the Chagrin Valley Conference. She has been recognized as an AP Scholar with Honors by the College Board.

Melissa has been named to the All-Ohio volleyball team with honorable mention and Second Team honors. This year, she served as volleyball team captain. She is a member of Interact and National Honor Society.

As a member of Fellowship Bible Church youth group, she volunteers with the Breathe and Random Acts of Kindness programs as well as participating in mission trips to South Carolina. She shares her love of volleyball with younger children, as an assistant coach with Junior Olympic Volleyball at the Ignite Club.

She plans to study medicine in a physician assistant program and become a nurse practitioner.

Holiday Cheer

The crowning jewel of the concert season is Kenston High School’s holiday concert featuring the high school choir, band and Varsity Jazz on Dec. 20.

All concerts will be held at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. The concert is under the direction of Mrs. Julia Green and Mr. Jeff Link.
