School Wins Top Award
St. Mary School has been selected as one of the 12 recipients of the 2013 Innovations in Catholic Education from Today’s Catholic Teacher. The award is in its 16th year.
This year there were numerous applicants for the award from Catholic schools across the nation. St. Mary’s can feel justifiably proud to be judged among these top 12 schools. St. Mary School received the award in the area of innovative projects in Catholic identity.
The specific project that earned the school the award is the S.T.A.N.D./Shield Program that has been implemented in the school.
Congratulations to Mrs. Jenny Rodriguez for creating the program and implementing it throughout the school in all the grade levels. Mrs. Rodriguez is the fourth-grade teacher as well as fifth-grade religion teacher. She moderates the program as well as leads the student group, which meets twice a month before school.
Jenny will receive the prestigious award at the NCEA (National Catholic Education Association) Convention in Houston, Texas, on April 3.
Everyone is so proud of Mrs. Rodriguez and St. Mary School for their efforts in promoting Catholic ideology and empowering students to use these ideas to become proficient problem solvers.
