Lessons From The Holocaust
On Jan. 31, Roman Frayman spoke to Mrs. Musial’s sixth-grade class. Mr. Frayman is the youngest concentration camp survivor in Cleveland. He spoke to the students about his early life in Poland and later on how he survived the Holocaust.
The students are finishing their unit on survival and the Holocaust. They have read “Number the Stars” and “The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.”
They also had a speaker, Sol Factor, who was a Holocaust survivor, earlier this year. Both speakers talked about their personal experiences, stereotyping and bullying.
It is so important that the students hear about these atrocities from a first person point of view.
Fifth-Grade Computer Class
Fifth-grader are practicing their roles from a scene in a manuscript they wrote in Mrs. O’Connell’s computer class. They are collaborating in a class video project acting as camera operator, actors, narrators and graphic artists.
Students explored how the Pilgrims learned to get along when they first landed on Plymouth Rock in 1620. They are learning about videography, editing, directing, producing, desktop publishing and much more.
Kindergarten Soup Day
Kindergarten students warmed up their classroom by following a recipe and sipping hot soup on their first day back to class following several snow days. Students were inspired by Maurice Sendak’s book, “Chicken Soup With Rice.”
Mrs. Wachob wanted to do something special to welcome her students back to school on student appreciation day.
